- In October, Pinterest announced its partnership with Headspace to give content creators mental health help.
- TikToker Mikayla Nogueira received backlash for complaining about her struggles with mental health while being a full-time influencer.
- Eligible creators will receive a free six-month subscription to Headspace.
Pinterest is teaming up with wellness app Headspace to give content creators access to mental health support.
Creators who meet Pinterest’s eligibility requirements will be able to sign up for a free six-month subscription on Headspace where they’ll have access to guided meditations, breathing exercises, and tips for overall mindfulness, according to a news release.
“We really wanted to inspire the people who do the inspiring and provide them with the tools and offerings to really help them with their mental health and wellbeing,” Pinterest’s Chief Content Officer Malik Ducard told CNBC.
In September, beauty influencer Mikayla Nogueira faced backlash after complaining about feeling “severely depressed” and having to pretend to be happy in her TikTok videos.
“Try being an influencer for a day. Try it because the people who say it’s easy are so out of their minds. Try it for a day,” Nogueira said to a commenter.
The regular cost of a Headspace subscription is $12.99 per month or $69.99 per year. The offer for creators is available now through September 2023.
According to the release, the partnership is meant to help creators find balance and integrate wellness practices in their daily lives. Ducard explained the mental exhaustion that comes with professional content creation.
“It’s no secret that on the Internet, creators often experience burnout and the exhaustion of creation instead of the excitement that comes with it,” Ducard said.
“We’re trying to build a better space for Creators at Pinterest, and as an industry, we believe there’s an opportunity to prioritize inspiring content by prioritizing inspiring creators,” he said.
The offer is exclusively available to creators who meet the following criteria:
- Live in one of these countries: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
- Have published three or more pins every month in the last three months
- Have 20 saves of published pins in the last 30 days
- Publish original content aligning with Pinterest’s Community guidelines
“Our collaboration with Pinterest aims to provide creators with simple and engaging tools that can fit seamlessly into their daily lives and help them feel better,” Headspace’s Chief Content & Studios Officer Morgan Selzer said in a statement.
