Ferris Capital, a registered investment advisory firm based in Southborough, Mass., has joined Overland Park, Kan.–based Creative Planning, one of the largest RIAs in the nation and among the most active acquirers in its field.
Founded by CEO/CIO David M. Ferris, Ferris Capital brings $775 million in assets under management and extends Creative Planning’s presence to the Boston area. The 10-year-old firm manages generational wealth, succession planning, investment management, real estate, retirement planning, private equity and more.
“It was evident from the very beginning that the core values at Ferris Capital aligned with our core values here at Creative Planning,” said Creative Planning CEO Peter Mallouk. “They are planning led, share our investment approach and have the same penchant for growth that is in Creative’s DNA.”
“It is clear to everyone in our organization that our ability to serve our clients will be substantially enhanced thanks to the world-class team that Peter has assembled at Creative over many years,” Ferris said. “Peter’s vision and commitment to transparent fiduciary investing with low-cost index funds, coupled with tax and planning experts, CPAs and attorneys, made this an easy decision to expand our offerings to clients on the East and West Coasts.
“Working with Creative will better enable us to advise clients on changing market conditions,” he added.
With this latest acquisition, Creative Planning now manages or advises on over $225 billion in assets across all 50 states and in 65 countries. In the first quarter of 2022, Creative acquired the $100 billion AUA scaled retirement firm Lockton Retirement Services—almost doubling assets claimed at the end of last year—and has continued plans for growth throughout 2022.
“We will continue to look for fits like the Ferris team that can help us complement our organic growth and accelerate our pace toward becoming a leading national wealth management firm,” Mallouk said.
